Five Thoughts: Williams takes step forward ☕

HOUSTON -- Trevor Williams isn’t completely back to his usual form yet but he’s getting closer.

Williams took the loss Tuesday night as the Pirates fell to the Astros 5-1 at Minute Maid Park in the opener of a three-game series. However, there were positive signs in his second start back after spending a little more than a month on the injured list with a strained right side.

For one, Williams pitched into the seventh inning. He also got his pitch count to 100 before being lifted after giving up an RBI single to George Springer that extended the Astros’ lead to 4-1.
