Chris Archer will pitch the first game of the second half of the season for the Pirates.
Archer will take the mound Friday afternoon for the opener of a three-game series against the Cubs in Chicago. The Pirates are off from Monday-Thursday for the All-Star break.
Clint Hurdle announced his second-half rotation Sunday before the Pirates played the Brewers in the finale of a three-game series at PNC Park.
Jordan Lyles and Trevor Williams will follow Archer in Chicago. The Cubs plan to start Yu Darvish and left-handers Jon Lester and Jose Quintana in the series.
Joe Musgrove will pitch the opener of a three-game series against the Cardinals in St. Louis on July 15. He will be followed by Dario Agrazal and Archer.
In other pitching news:
Opening-day starter Jameson Taillon played catch for the first time since going on the injured list on May 2 with a strained right elbow-flexor tendon. The Pirates are hoping Taillon can progress to throwing off a mound in two weeks.
The Pirates are hopeful of having Keone Kela back from the IL by the end of the month. He has been out since May 6 with right shoulder inflammation.
