Do the Steelers and Haden get something done during camp?

One more if I may… Love the commentary you and team provide on camp practices. But in those, have only heard of Haden being beaten. May just be a few interesting things to call out…? Or does he look slower or something off? Thanks!

Chris,
How often do you interact with Art 2 on a casual level? Next time you do, please ask him if he has given any consideration to switching back to the block numbers on a permanent basis. I don’t know anyone who prefers the rounded style.

Hi Chris – Sneaking in a 2nd question if I can… Appreciate your and Dale’s insights into Cameron Kelly. Do you see a notable difference in speed (or anything else) compared to Sean Davis? I know he ran slower, but curious if it is apparent as you’re watching. Thanks!

Since two green dot helmets can’t be on the field at the same time, who will be given the green dots on defense? If Devin Bush becomes a three down player, he’s the obvious choice. If Vince Williams keeps it, then another green dot guy can’t be on the field with him. This may seem like a minor logistical issue, but having Bush or Barron constantly changing from a green dot helmet to an alternate one could affect the substitution flow. Was easier when Vince Williams would come off and L. J. Fort would come on.

Who do you think will accumulate more defensive snaps this year, Chick or Ola?

I’m not writing Bud off yet, but I have this strong desire to see our defense with two capable OLBs. That Woodley/James duo was so fun to watch, it changed offensive schemes.

Chris, keep up the great work! I think Tomlin is one of the most quotable coaches although he repeats some cliches. Do you have a favorite Tomlinism?

Chris!!! Quick question:
Do you think the old adage comes into play of “Steel sharpens Steel” (changing the metal of course for situational use) when you watch this team’s’ Offense and Defense practice?

It seems that having a top notch D to play against will benefit the O when it comes to games…”not practice!”

Hi Chris – Love your insights, particularly as it comes to scheme. I realize it is early and likely mostly just installing basics at this point, but anything stick out to you as something scheme-wise the Steelers are working on? Thanks!

Hi Chris!
Seems like there isn’t a definable position of weakness. Maybe TE past the starter, and I do expect them to pick one up before the season begins. As a fan it’s been a while since I’ve been able to say that. Is that the impression you have as well or am I missing something?

Love what you do brother, thanks for all the insight.

Carter, can you name any good TE’s in the league the Steelers could potentially trade for to backup McDonald? Also what backup OLB’s do you see making the team this year? JT Jones, Ola, Sutton?

Why all the gnashing of teeth over the backup TE? TE should be one of the easiest positions to cover. For example, two RBs and three WRs, six OL, five WRs, etc. I get you wouldn’t want to go without a TE long-term, but you should be able handle it short-term if something happens McDonald.

Chris – another question related to Bud. If Ola has an impressive training camp and preseason showing, do you think the Steelers will be bold and start him over Bud, or is best case for Ola is he becomes the primary backup ahead of Chickillo? It would be great to see them take a chance on a guy with an unknown ceiling vs feeling obligated to start the one on a $9mm one year contract with a history of being average at best.

Hi, Chris greetings from Northern California from a member of your fan club. A few days ago, I noted in a comment that an X factor in the Steelers defense will be whether Bud Dupree finally demonstrates that he merited a first round draft pick. In response, one reader stated that the stats for the defense are notably better when Bud is on the field. I would appreciate your thoughts on whether Bud is a true difference maker or whether he has not yet consistently played up to what the Steelers expected when drafting him.
