Perrotto steps aside to focus on health

Most unfortunately, health concerns have prompted John Perrotto to step aside.

All specifics will stay private, but we were told by John late Thursday night that he's chosen to resign from DKPittsburghSports.com to focus fully on his well-being, and we -- all of us here -- respect that and wish absolutely nothing but the best for him in doing exactly that. Anything he'd like to share about his status, he'll be more than welcome to do so himself in comments below.

Thanks so much to John for everything he'd brought here.

In the interim, I'll fly to St. Louis and Anaheim -- I'd already been booked for the latter -- to cover the Pirates' six-game trip that starts tonight. I was able to secure at the last second an early-afternoon flight to St. Louis, and I should arrive at Busch Stadium in plenty of time for the 4:45 p.m. clubhouse opening.

Beyond that, we need a full-time baseball writer. If you have experience covering Major League Baseball, please email a professional resume directly to me: DK@DKPittsburghSports.com

This process, as with our past few, won't be rushed. And as it takes place, we'll continue covering the Pirates as we always have.
