No updates on Dumoulin, McCann taken at PPG Paints Arena (Penguins)

Brian Dumoulin. -- MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Brian Dumoulin and Jared McCann were scratched for the Penguins' 3-0 loss to the Golden Knights at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday night.

Dumoulin was originally listed on the official pregame lineup sheet on his normal spot on the top defense pairing, with Erik Gudbranson back in the lineup and Jack Johnson as a healthy scratch. The Penguins announced after warmups that Dumoulin was out and Johnson was in, which likely means Dumoulin was injured during warmups, as a source in the locker room affirmed.

Johnson slid into Dumoulin's spot on the top defense pairing alongside Kris Letang on the first shift, and the pairings of Marcus Pettersson-Justin Schultz and Gudbranson-John Marino remained the same. On subsequent shifts, Gudbranson and Johnson were reunited, and Marino was promoted to the top defense pairing.

McCann wasn't included on the Penguins' initial roster sheet, and Juuso Riikola was added back into the lineup as a forward.

McCann missed Wednesday's game against the Avalanche with a lower-body injury. He played on Friday night against the Stars. He appeared to get hurt when he took a puck to the forearm during the game, but never left the game and didn't appear to be struggling for the remainder of the game.

Mike Sullivan declined to offer a status update on either Dumoulin or McCann after the game.
