Spring training may still be a couple days away, but the Pirates have already made their first cut of the season.
Well, haircut, that is.
On Wednesday, Chris Archer unveiled to his Instagram followers his new haircut, ditching his iconic dreads for a clean-cut look.
This is the most noteworthy Pirates haircut since Andrew McCutchen chopped off his dreads ahead of the 2015 season. Or when Steven Brault did last year. Either or.

After some in-depth investigative reporting, I was able to unearth Archer's hair started to grow out during the 2015 season.

By that offseason, he was asking the tough questions.
Question: is the hair on my head longer than the hair on @kidkeuchy (Dallas Keuchel) face? Or no?

For what it's worth, I think Archer's was longer, but Keuchel's beard was a little more impressive at that time.
And in 2017, he unveiled the dreads. In 2019, he added some blonde locks for the Pirates.

I'll update this article if there are further developments on Archer's hair.
