A Penguins player tested positive for the coronavirus, the team announced in a statement Thursday.
The statement did not name the player who tested positive, but said that the player is not in Pittsburgh and has been self-isolating at his home since he first began experiencing symptoms, and that the player has since recovered and is "feeling well."
"The health and safety of our players, fans, staff, and community remains our highest priority," the statement said. "The club will have no further update at this time."
The Penguins are not the first NHL team to have a player test positive for coronavirus. The Senators have had five unnamed players, a staff member, and a radio broadcaster test positive. Three Avalanche players have also tested positive.
