Because several new staff members and an all-new state-of-the-art app aren't enough, we're about to add to our big June boom here ... with the return of DK Sports Radio!

Beginning Monday!

It'll start with every-weekday, early-morning podcasts I'll host myself, roughly a half-hour in length and, as with all the radio I've ever done, wholly unscripted. So if you've ever liked -- or even politely tolerated -- the radio I've done for our partners at 105.9 the X, it'll be a lot like that. Just having fun, cutting loose on whatever crosses the mind, not worrying where it falls.

The following week, Jeff Hartman, who brings a ton of podcasting experience, will host a staff-based afternoon program, joined for each by a co-worker here. They'll be team-specific, unlike mine, but also a half-hour each.

Mine will be up before sunrise for your commute to work, Jeff's around 3 p.m. for your commute home.

From there ... well, that's up to you, and I mean that. We've put a lot into this plan, and it's a lot healthier if we can start out with a foundation of 2,500 followers to our three main podcasting channels, displayed in the links below:

I put this notice out on Twitter and Facebook, and we gained 1,000 of those, so we're left still needing 1,500. We've had readers admonishing us forever and ever -- me in particular -- for not having podcasts. Well, here we are. And all we need from you in return is a free, easy tap of a bleeping button.

Depending where you hear your podcasts -- Apple, Google, Spotify, wherever -- we're already there. Either tap one of the three links above or just do a search on your podcast provider for 'DK Pittsburgh Sports.' From there, follow our channel. And if you're a little more tech-savvy than that, make sure our podcasts are set to automatically download. It allows advertisers to take us seriously and, thus, to monetize the process. All without you having to drop a dime.

Seriously pumped for this.

NEW APP THIS WEEK!

For you, anyway. The new app, promised for release in the week of June 15, will be available to our subscribers before we push it to the broader public. Meaning we'll let you know when it's there, more quietly than you might expect, but the promotional campaign we've got lined up will wait until we get the all-clear from you.

But hey, that won't affect you, so I'm not even sure why I'm mentioning it, other than maybe to say this: As much as we've appreciated the efforts of our 25 readers who've done our volunteer testing, the only true test comes when it's out there en masse. So there will be hiccups. It won't be perfect. And everything we learn from you will help it get that much closer before we start blasting the airwaves with ads aimed at outsiders.

TITLE SPONSOR SOUGHT

For the first time, DK Pittsburgh Sports is offering a title sponsorship to our venture. That means top billing on the app, on the site, on our alerts, on our social media, and potentially more depending on what best suits your business. We've got a cumulative reach no one else in this market can match.

We don't know everyone else's page views since they don't make theirs public, but we publish ours every single day, as well as all kinds of other data in this very weekly feature. But we're beyond confident that there isn't a sports media app that's got an active Pittsburgh-rooted user base of 18,371. With a presence in 52,177 individual devices. And on Twitter, if you add up our company account plus our top five individual accounts, the follower total is 291,623. That's more than the Post-Gazette, the Tribune-Review or The Athletic's local branch.

I'll say it again: No one can match this. And we're inviting you to be a big part of it by emailing She Who Is Director Of Operations: Dali@DKPittsburghSports.com

WELCOME, NEWBIES!

We sold an amazing 251 new subscriptions within a 36-hour flash sale that ended at 11:59 p.m. yesterday, and we're happy to welcome everyone into the fold ... or back into the fold!

The offer went out via social media, and it applied only to completely new subscribers or to those whose subscriptions had expired. And I'll be honest, I didn't think we'd get more than a few dozen in the current climate. To say I was surprised -- no, stunned -- by this is an understatement.

Thank you so much!

BACK TO BUSINESS

• Our daily page views, averaged out over the past week, were 53,155. The general goal with this figure is to average 100,000, but that's obviously not going to be realistic for a while.

• Our most-hit original article of the past week was Part 5 of Dale Lolley's extraordinary five-part series on Troy Polamalu at 7,551 views for a series total of 27,390 views -- and counting -- and it deserved all that and more. Overall, the Steelers accounted for 91,746 page views, the Pirates 84,517, the Penguins 71,302, and Pitt 16,011.

• We're at 36,560 (+49) followers on Twitter, we're at 33,557 (+448) page likes on Facebook, we're at 14,525 (+41) followers on Instagram. These figures are just for our official company account on each platform, not for us as individuals.

• To join our social media army and help us increasing our reach on Facebook and Twitter, please email Hunter Homistek at Hunter@DKPittsburghSports.com.

• Get our free newsletter with a simple signup. We send out a new one Monday-Friday at 7 a.m.
