Pitt secured a second linebacker commitment in its Class of 2021 when Derrveron Maxwell-Black announced his intentions to play for the Panthers on Thursday.
Maxwell-Black is the 17th member of Pitt's recruiting class.

Maxwell-Black (6-foot, 210 pounds) seeks contact, delivers punishing tackles and was named a Class 4A first-team all-state linebacker by FloridaHSFootball.com. The Lakewood High School product (St.Petersburg, Fla.) is a three-star prospect according to Rivals. He held nine offers, including Illinois, Syracuse and Colorado State.
In 2019, Maxwell-Black finished with 83 tackles (16 for loss) and three fumble recoveries in helping Lakewood to a 12-1 record. The school has a long list of alumni with NFL ties, including Dante Fowler Jr., Shaquem Griffin, Ernest Givens and Pat Terrell.
Maxwell-Black, who was recruited by Pitt linebackers coach Rob Harley, joins Preston Lavant of Cordele, Ga., as linebackers in the 2021 class. He's also the third commit from Florida. Defensive back Noah Biglow and offensive lineman Marco Fugar are the others.
