For the second time since the NHL began holding informal skates on June 8, a team has temporarily closed its facilities due to multiple positive coronavirus tests.
The Blues did not hold their regularly scheduled skates on Friday due to multiple positive coronavirus tests. Saturday and Sunday were scheduled days off for players, and the facility is expected to reopen on Monday.
It's not known how many players or team personnel tested positive.
St. Louis general manager Doug Armstrong deferred all questions to the NHL. Bill Daly, the league's vice president, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch via email, "We don't intend to comment on this situation specifically, but I will confirm our view that the club has taken all appropriate steps in the circumstances, and remains vigilant following our procedures and health and safety protocols."
Two weeks ago, the Lightning halted their informal skates in Tampa, Fla., for several days when three players and additional team personnel tested positive.
The NHL's last update on Monday said that more than 250 players had rejoined their teams for informal skates since June 8, and 15 of those players had tested positive. An additional 11 players who had not yet rejoined their team had also tested positive.
