Before the Steelers open their season against the Giants at MetLife Stadium on Monday night, the AFC North saw its other three teams play on Sunday, including a divisional showdown between the Ravens and the Browns.
That matchup saw the teams split wins in both 2018 and 2019, but the Ravens reasserted their dominance in the rivalry with a 38-6 win on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Ravens were led in scoring by the reigning NFL MVP, Lamar Jackson, who threw for three touchdowns along with 275 passing yards and 45 rushing yards. Rookie running back J.K. Dobbins rushed for two touchdowns along with his 22 rushing yards for his NFL debut.
Marquise Brown led the Ravens in receiving with 101 yards on five receptions while Mark Andrews caught two of Jackson's touchdown passes.
The Browns' abysmal game was led by Baker Mayfield completing 21 passes on 39 attempts for 189 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Ten of those passes went to Odell Beckham Jr., who only caught three of them for 22 yards.
The Bengals hosted the Chargers for their season opener at Paul Brown Stadium at 4:25 on Sunday, losing 16-13 as the Bengals' kicker, Ryan Bullock, missed a chip-shot 31-yard field goal at the end of regulation.
The game was the NFL debut for first overall pick, quarterback Joe Burrow, for the Bengals. He finished the game completing 23 of 36 passes for 193 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. He got his first NFL touchdown on a quarterback draw that went for 23 yards, the longest run of the day for the Bengals.
The two games left the AFC North standings with the Ravens as the only team with a win, while both the Browns and the Bengals at 0-1. The Steelers can keep pace with the Ravens with a win on Monday in the first step of their campaign to dethrone a team that's won the AFC North for two years in a row.
