ALTOONA, Pa. -- Despite not yet playing in a game, Penn State was listed at No. 10 in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 Poll, which were both released Sunday.

The Nittany Lions were No. 13 in the Coaches Poll last week while being held out of the AP Top 25.

Penn State and the Big Ten have shown their strength as a whole returning to the rankings even without playing a single competitive down thus far.

Ohio State came in as the highest ranked Big Ten team at No. 6 in both the Coaches and the AP Poll. Wisconsin and Michigan round out the remaining Big Ten teams in the Top-25 at No. 18 and 21 respectively in the Coaches Poll and No. 19 and 23 in the AP Poll respectively.

The Nittany Lions will be eligible for the College Football Playoff this year despite the shortened schedule and every team regardless of record is bowl eligible this season.

Initially, the Penn State came in at No. 7 in both the preseason AP Top 25 and preseason Coaches Poll.

The Coaches Poll released their preseason rankings prior to the Big Ten announcing the postponement of the 2020 fall season while the AP Poll released theirs following the postponement.

Penn State returns to action Oct. 24 against Indiana before hosting Ohio State on Oct. 31.
