The Texans had a spate of false positive COVID tests prior to playing the Steelers at Heinz Field on Sunday according to a report by the Houston Chronicle.
Subsequent tests were negative and the players were permitted to play in a 28-21 loss to the Steelers, but it will be something that continues to bear scrutiny as the NFL continues to deal with fallout from the pandemic.
The Steelers have played just one road game in the first three weeks of the season, their regular season opener against Giants at MetLife Stadium. But they do travel to Nashville, Tenn., this week to face the Titans and play three of their next five games on the road.
Pennsylvania currently recommends that people voluntarily quarantine for 14 days upon their return from a trip to Tennessee, though the Steelers obviously won't be doing that.
Late last week, Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell tested positive and was held out of the team's loss to the Bears. At the time, the NFL said it had no plans to postpone the game because of the positive test.
Under the league's rules to deal with the pandemic, players are tested daily. Because rosters have been expanded to help teams deal with the issue, games are expected to be played, even if multiple players from one team test positive.
