A report from our partners at WPXI indicate that both the Steelers and Pitt will be in talks with the Pennsylvania Department of Health sometime this week about the possibility of fans being allowed to attend football games this season at Heinz Field.

Aaron Martin broke the story Monday afternoon via Twitter:

Sources told Martin that the Steelers are "optimistic" that a limited amount of fans could be allowed to attend games at Heinz Field in October. Other sources also indicated that the Department of Health will also speak with Pitt officials sometime this week, however no dates or times have been provided about either call.

Pat Narduzzi indicated via Zoom Monday afternoon that he thought there would be "a chance" that fans and/or parents of his players would be allowed to attend games at Heinz Field this year. After pleading to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf to allow parents to attend games last week, he argued on Monday that it would be safer for his players and their families to allow parents to attend games. You can read my story about his comments here.
