Matt Murray is expected to be traded this offseason.
This offseason is going to see a lot of goaltenders shuffling around the league, with Henrik Lundqvist, Braden Holtby, Craig Anderson, Jimmy Howard, Jacob Markstrom, Thomas Greiss, Corey Crawford and others likely headed for unrestricted free agency, and some like Marc-Andre Fleury potentially on the trading block.
With Crawford potentially on his way out of Chicago, there were reports earlier this week that the Blackhawks were interested in Murray.
Elliotte Friedman reported on Monday that the Penguins granted the Blackhawks permission to speak with Murray about a contract -- a necessary precursor to any trade -- and that negotiations fell flat:
Hearing CHI/PIT had Matt Murray conversations and the Blackhawks had permission to discuss an extension. Things did not work out, so everyone continues examining their options.

The Penguins made Murray a qualifying offer on Monday, allowing them to retain exclusive signing rights that could be moved in a trade.
Tristan Jarry was re-signed to a three-year contract that carries a $3.5 million cap hit on Saturday, and Jim Rutherford confirmed to Dave Molinari that the plan is for Jarry to be the No. 1 goaltender next season.
