The QMJHL's Sherbrooke Phoenix has temporarily suspended all team activities as a precautionary measure over coronavirus concerns, the team announced on Monday.
Penguins top prospect Samuel Poulin is Sherbrooke's captain.
The move comes after a player for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, the QMJHL's first confirmed case since the 2020-21 season began. The Phoenix played the Armada on Friday and Sunday, their first two games of the regular season.
Phoenix players will be isolated and tested during the pause.
Poulin, 19, led his team in goals in the preseason with three in three games. He scored a goal in each of this weekend's two games against the Armada, and recorded an assist in the season-opener.
