Leave the masks on and keep the tailgating supplies at home, but Heinz Field will be open to approximately 5,000 fans for the Steelers-Eagles game today, 1:02 p.m.
This will be the first time any sporting event in Pittsburgh will have fans in the stands since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with Gov. Tom Wolf adjusting capacity guidelines this week. The Steelers have six home games remaining during the regular season.
As expected, there are new guidelines for fans attending today:
• Self-evaluate, including the taking of temperature, before leaving home
• Make sure that tickets are loaded onto phones or the Steelers' mobile app before arriving at the stadium
• Tailgating is expressly forbidden in stadium lots, which won't open until 11 a.m. Open lots will be Gold 1, 2 and 4, as well as Red 7A, 7B and 7C, and Green 21. Gold 1 garage spots are available for pre-purchase.
• The North Shore T station closes at 1:15 p.m.
• Use the entrance that's the closest to the assigned seating section. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.
• Once inside, masks and physical distancing will be required at all times, with fans of the same party being asked to sit together.
• Alcohol and food sales will be shut down at the start of the third quarter.
