The Penguins got the last restricted free agent on their major-league roster re-signed Saturday, when winger Anthony Angello accepted a two-year deal.
The contract, which carries a $725,000 salary-cap hit, calls for a reduced salary if/when he's in the American Hockey League during Year 1, but morphs into a one-way deal in the second year.
The actual salary is for the league-minimum $700,000 in 2020-21, and the league-minimum $750,000 in 2021-22.
Angello, 24, had one goal in eight games with the Penguins last season. He put up 16 goals and nine assists in 48 games with their farm team in Wilkes-Barre in 2019-20.
"We're really pleased with Anthony's development," Jim Rutherford said in a statement released by the team. "We thought he did well when we brought him up to the NHL and look forward to watching his continued growth as a player."
Angello, was a fifth-round draft choice in 2014, will not have to pass through waivers to go to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton next season, but will have to in 2021-22 as a product of his number of pro seasons played.
