MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Pitt's 31-19 loss to Miami only furthered any arguments that the program shouldn't receive any votes to be ranked in the Associated Press' top 25 poll, and that's exactly what happened when the updated poll was released Saturday:
POLL ALERT: Clemson easily holds off Alabama to remain No. 1 in AP Top 25; Notre Dame rises to No. 3, followed by Georgia, Ohio State.

But Pitt's next opponent in Notre Dame jumped up to No. 3 in the rankings after the Irish's 12-7 win over Louisville Saturday. The win makes Notre Dame 4-0 on the season as Pitt falls to 3-3 before the teams are scheduled to face off at 3:30 p.m. at Heinz Field Saturday.
Notre Dame was only behind Clemson among the six ACC teams ranked by the Associated Press:
• No. 1: Clemson
• No. 3: Notre Dame
• No. 11: Miami
• No. 14: North Carolina
• No. 19: Virginia Tech
• No. 23 North Carolina State
Penn State was ranked No. 9 despite not playing this yet this season as West Virginia received 57 votes, but remained unranked despite being 3-1 and 2-1 in Big 12 play.
