Penguins loan O'Connor to Norwegian team taken on the North Shore (Penguins)

Dartmouth Athletics

Drew O'Connor

The Penguins loaned forward prospect Drew O'Connor to the Norwegian team Manglerud.

The loan agreement is until training camps open in North America.

O'Connor, 22, signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Penguins in March after two years at Dartmouth. He played exclusively wing as a freshman and spent some time at center last season.

O'Connor, who is 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and a left-handed shot, led Dartmouth in scoring last season with 21 goals and 12 assists in 31 games. As a freshman, he finished No. 2 on Dartmouth with 17 goals and nine assists in 34 games.

O'Connor is the second North American Penguins prospect to be loaned to a European team this offseason after defenseman Cam Lee was loaned to Slovakian team HC Slovan Bratislava.
