Good morning!
It'd been so long since our page views approached normalcy that this past week, candidly, felt almost uncomfortable.
But there we were, covering major news on the Penguins and Steelers, some residual material on Pirates, and even a few actual college basketball games that didn't get canceled. And the result's been an average of 78,026 views to the app/site, by far our highest in months. As well as additional commenting traffic and all else.
Next up: Vaccines. Let's finish this already.
• We're replacing our Live Wires with full news articles. We had a vision for how the Live Wires would work and, occasionally, they did. For the most part, though, they wound up hurting more than they helped, including at the business level. To ensure you still have the 'live' feel of certain types of coverage that demand it -- practices, skates, etc. -- we'll be working to create files that facilitate that.
• If you're new to this app/site, welcome! As much as we value our existing and/or longtime readers, we never lose sight of the importance of adding more. And that those who arrive might need a helping hand to show them around. Please consider this file that hand. There's some vital information below and answers to some of the most common questions we've gotten from newcomers over the years. And if that isn't enough, by all means, feel free to email us at Help@DKPittsburghSports.com!
• Learn about our site's pioneering history. We were the first company of its kind anywhere in North America, and we're proud to having inspired similar ventures across the continent and even overseas.
• Download our free, state-of-the-art app: Apple or Android. These were custom-built, meaning completely from scratch, in 2020.
• Every weekday, on our reborn podcasting network, I offer up three DK's Daily Shot shows, one each on Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. Also every weekday, our longstanding flagship video program, Morning Java, is available here and on all our social media platforms.
• This week's Brewing question: If you could make one architectural change to any of our city's three major-league sporting venues -- costing less than $20 million -- what would it be?
