The Penguins on Tuesday assigned forward Drew O'Connor and defenseman Kevin Czuczman to the taxi squad.
The moves give the Penguins 12 healthy forwards on the active NHL roster -- the 11 forwards other than O'Connor who played Monday night, plus Colton Sceviour. If Kris Letang is able to play on Saturday, that would give the Penguins six healthy defensemen. Mike Sullivan said on Monday that Letang was still being evaluated and was day-to-day.
O'Connor appeared in four games on the fourth line with the Penguins, recording one assist and a plus-1 rating. Czuczman was scoreless and a minus-3 in two games.
Defenseman Will Reilly, who was added to the taxi squad from Wilkes-Barre last week and then added to the active roster on Monday, was re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre.
