Chris Drury

Alright, you can scratch one name off of the list of candidates for the Penguins' general manager job.

TSN's Bob McKenzie reported Wednesday that Rangers assistant general manager Chris Drury informed the Penguins that he wasn't interested in leaving New York or the Rangers.

Drury was among the lists of top candidates for the job, and the Penguins had asked the Rangers for permission to speak to Drury.

Drury, who played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Avalanche, Flames, Sabres, and Rangers, has worked in the Rangers' front office since the 2015-16 season. He's in his fifth season as the assistant general manager, and fourth with the dual role of general manager of the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack.

TSN's Frank Seravalli also reported on Wednesday that Penguins interim general manager Patrik Allvin and Kevin Weekes will be among the first to interview for the permanent position.

Weekes is currently an analyst for the NHL Network and was among the candidates for the Panther's recent general manager hire.
