Mike Tomlin has finalized the hiring of his 2021 coaching staff with the addition of former University of Houston defensive backs coach Grady Brown.
Brown took the job with the Steelers despite being hired by Houston earlier this week. He had been the defensive coordinator at McNeese State. He has previously had stops at Old Dominion, South Carolina, Louisville, LSU, Southern Miss, Birmingham Southern, Texas Southern, Alabama State, Alabama A&M and internships in the NFL with the Chiefs and Seahawks.

Coaching veteran who has also been a defensive backs coach at schools such as South Carolina and Louisville.
Brown replaces Tom Bradley, who along with offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner and offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett were not retained following the 2020 season. Tight ends coach James Daniel retired at the end of the season, as well.
Brown will work closely with senior defensive assistant/secondary coach Teryl Austin on Tomlin's staff.
Brown is the fourth outside position coach hired by Tomlin in the past month, joining Alfredo Roberts (tight ends), Mike Sullivan (quarterbacks) and Chris Morgan (assistant offensive line). Quarterbacks coach Matt Canada was elevated to offensive coordinator, while Adrian Klemm became offensive line coach.
