WASHINGTON -- Jason Zucker left the Penguins' 3-2 overtime win against the Capitals on Tuesday with a lower-body injury.

Mike Sullivan said after the game that Zucker was still being evaluated.

Zucker's right skate caught on Nick Jensen's skate, and Zucker fell awkwardly into the Penguins' boards in front of the bench. He was down on the ice in pain for awhile:

Zucker had to be helped off the ice by teammates and medical staff and did not appear to be putting any weight on one of his legs.

Zach Aston-Reese stepped up and played on the second line in Zucker's absence. Sam Lafferty replaced Aston-Reese on the third line.

If Zucker is out of the lineup for any amount of time, it'll be a loss both on and off the ice.

"He's a popular guy," Sullivan said of Zucker. "He's a real good person, a great teammate. He's totally invested in the Penguins. Anytime a teammate like that goes down, there's obvious concern from everybody because we all care about him. He's become one of the quiet leaders in the locker room. He's a veteran guy for us, he plays the game hard, he's a popular guy in our room."
