The Penguins made a series of roster moves, general manager Ron Hextall announced Monday.
The Penguins put defenseman Mark Friedman on injured reserve retroactive to the date he was injured, March 4. He's just on regular injured reserve, not long-term injured reserve. Regular injured reserve frees up a roster spot but provides no cap relief. The seven-day timeframe for injured reserve rules Friedman out for at least the next game against the Rangers and the first game in Buffalo.
The taxi squad received another shakeup -- forward Josh Currie, defenseman Josh Maniscalco, and goaltender Emil Larmi were sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from the taxi squad.
Only Currie appeared in any games during his time recalled to Pittsburgh, skating on the fourth line in the March 2 game against the Flyers.
To replace them on the taxi squad, Anthony Angello was assigned to the taxi squad from the active roster, and forward Freddy Gaudreau and goaltender Max Lagace were recalled from Wilkes-Barre and join defenseman Yannick Weber as the four players on the taxi squad.
Angello appeared in five NHL games in his stint on the active roster, all on the fourth line. Gaudreau scored a goal and three assists in six games with Wilkes-Barre, with his one goal being an overtime winner. Lagace was impressive in his five starts in Wilkes-Barre, recording a 1.97 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage with a 3-1-2 record.
