NEWARK, N.J. -- The Penguins have placed centers Evgeni Malkin and Teddy Blueger on injured-reserve.
The move with Malkin is retroactive to Tuesday, while the one with Blueger is backdated to Monday.
Neither can play for at least a week after their time on IR began.
The Penguins have acknowledged that Blueger will be out "longer term" because of an unspecified injury that apparently resulted from a cross-check by Bruins defenseman Jarred Tinordi late in the Penguins' 4-1 victory against Boston Monday.
Tinordi also was responsible for the hit that knocked Malkin out of the Penguins' 2-1 loss to the Bruins the next night.
While Malkin and Blueger were added to the injured-reserve list, defenseman John Marino was removed from it.
The Penguins capped a series of personnel moves shortly before their game against New Jersey at Prudential Center Thursday evening by recalling forwards Anthony Angello, Colton Sceviour and Frederick Gaudreau from their taxi squad.
