The Steelers like to at least kick the tires on former first-round picks that they had an interest in at draft time when those players become free agents.
And, according to Josina Anderson, they'll be bringing in another for a visit. According to Anderson, former Raiders and Browns safety Karl Joseph will meet with the Steelers this week.
Joseph, a West Virginia product, was a first-round pick of the Raiders in 2016. He spent four seasons with the Raiders, making 49 starts before joining the Browns as a free agent last season.
With Cleveland in 2020, Joseph appeared in 14 games, starting eight. He has 303 career tackles with five interceptions, 19 pass defenses and three sacks.
Joseph would potentially replace Sean Davis and/or Jordan Dangerfield on the Steelers' roster if he is signed as a backup to starters Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds. Davis and Dangerfield are both unrestricted free agents.
In addition to kicking the tires on Joseph, the Steelers made two minor roster moves Wednesday, adding wide receiver Mathew Sexton and linebacker Jarvis Miller.
Sexton (5-9, 178 pounds, went undrafted last year out of Eastern Michigan, but ran in the 4.3s during Michigan State's pro day earlier this month.
Miller (6-2, 225 pounds) played four seasons at Penn State before spending his final season at Massachusetts.
