Good morning!
It was wonderful to see real people and hear real voices again at the ballpark. Really was.
The Pirates' 135th home opener marked not only the return of fans to PNC Park for the first time in 557 days but also the largest gathering of humans of any kind in our city since the outset of the pandemic. And it took no more than a cursory glance around the stadium and environs to see that people were following the safety guidelines, notably the masks.
A tip of the cap here, too, to the team and the service workers for having an apparently smooth inaugural event in this regard. So much planning, prep and execution goes into it and, speaking for myself, I'm grateful for how clean and organized everything was.
