Alabama running back Najee Harris made quite the impression with his Monday appearance on the Adam Schefter podcast. The projected first round pick opened up about some of his experiences with different teams during the NFL Draft process.
Some of those experiences weren't his favorites.
"You know they can call us up to five times? Each team?" Harris said to Schefter when asked about his NFL Zoom meetings. "It's annoying as hell. They'll set Zoom calls at nine o'clock at night and they'll take an hour, while you know that this team isn't going to pick me. They just signed him, him and him, so you know they don't have any room for a running back and they want me to learn the whole offense. So you go through all that, then you look at ESPN and they picked up another running back."
Schefter guessed that Harris was talking about the Texans, but Harris didn't confirm his answer and said to keep looking at other teams who signed multiple running backs. It's very possible he's talking about the Raiders, who already have an Alabama running back as a starter in Joshua Jacobs, and signed both Kenyan Drake and Theo Riddick during free agency.
But when asked about teams he did liked speaking with, Harris made sure to mention the Steelers first.
"I wasn't wowed," Harris said when asked if any coach made him feel starstruck. "But a cool-a** Zoom call and who I met in-person was (Mike Tomlin) for sure. They had the whole staff there, GM, defense, everybody. They were chill. (Tomlin)'s really cool. It's just the basic questions he asks to get to know you."
Schefter suggested to Harris he could see him as a Pittsburgh Steeler, but Harris wouldn't bite at his suggestion.
"It's not my decision," Harris said. "At the end of the day, I'm just seeing where I set up shop at. I don't make the decisions. They only things I can control is how I practice, how I play, and how I train."
