NEW YORK -- Tristan Jarry won't just be back in uniform when the Penguins meet the New York Rangers tonight at 7:08 at Madison Square Garden.

He'll be in the crease.

Mike Sullivan confirmed after the Penguins' optional game-day skate that Jarry, who missed the past two games because of an unspecified upper-body injury, will get the start this evening.

Jarry has a career record of 4-2 against New York, with a 2.65 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.

His numbers versus the Rangers are even better in 2020-21: 3-0, with a 2.27 goals-against and .926 save percentage.

• Tonight's game will be the first of 17 in a row that the Rangers will play in the New York metropolitan area, the longest such streak in franchise history. It includes 11 at the Garden, four on Long Island and two in Newark, N.J.

Jake Guentzel has scored a goal in a career-high six consecutive road games.

• Sullivan, on Frederick Gaudreau: "He's a real competitive guy. He's a smart player. He's helped us on the penalty-kill. He's strong defensively. He's won some faceoffs for us. He's really helped us in a lot of capacities, and I love his competitiveness."

• Eleven of the past 17 games between the Penguins and Rangers have been decided by one goal.

• Sullivan said injured center Teddy Blueger, who has missed the past 10 games, will not play tonight.

• The Penguins, who have not played since their 7-5 loss in Boston Saturday, are 5-0 this season when they have two days between games.
