The NHL's trade deadline this season is April 12 at 3 p.m.

We'll keep you posted on all the trade talks and completed deals as we approach Monday's deadline.

In case you missed it, Dave Molinari spoke with Penguins general manager Ron Hextall on Wednesday about his plans for the deadline.

MORE LATE DEALS

Monday, April 12: Ron Hextall just finished speaking, and he said the Penguins are done making moves, no more will be trickling in. The Jeff Carter deal was it.

Here are some other trades around the league that became public after 3 p.m.:

The Ducks acquired defenseman Haydn Fleury from the Hurricanes in exchange for defenseman Jani Hakanpaa and a 2022 sixth-round pick.

The Canadiens acquired defenseman Erik Gustafsson from the Flyers for a 2022 seventh-round pick. The Flyers are retaining half of Gustafsson's salary.

The Capitals acquired forward Anthony Mantha from the Red Wings in exchange for forwards Richard Panik and Jakub Vrana, a 2021 first-round pick and 2022 second-round pick.

The Capitals also acquired forward Michael Raffl from the Flyers in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2021. The Flyers are retaining 25 percent of Raffl's salary.

The Canucks acquired defenseman Madison Bowey and a 2021 fifth-round pick from the Blackhawks in exchange for a 2021 fourth-round pick.

The Blackhawks, Sharks, and Golden Knights made another complicated three-team retained salary deal which is best understood with this graphic:

HEXTALL SPEAKING SOON

Monday, April 12: Ron Hextall is about to speak at 3:30, so I'll update this with the later moves around the league after that. A couple still trickling in.

MORE DEALS TRICKLING IN

Monday, April 12: We're learning of more deals now just as the 3 p.m. deadline passes:

The Senators traded Erik Gudbranson to the Predators for a 2023 seventh-round pick

The Ducks traded Ben Hutton to the Maple Leafs for a fifth-round pick.

DEADLINE

Monday, April 12: It's 3 p.m., but official announcements on deals always trickle in after the deadline. We'll see if any more come in. It was a relatively slow morning/afternoon after the flurry of deals last night.

PANTHERS GET
SAM BENNETT

Monday, April 12: The Panthers are loading up, acquiring one of the top centers on the trade market in Sam Bennett:

LIGHTNING ADD ANOTHER
DEFENSEMAN

Monday, April 12: The Lightning acquired defenseman Fredrik Claesson from the Sharks in exchange for the signing rights to one of their goaltending prospects.

OILERS GET KULIKOV

Monday, April 12: The Devils sent defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to the Oilers for a conditional fourth-round draft pick

RANGERS STUCK
WITH DEANGELO

Monday, April 12: After the Rangers sent defenseman Tony DeAngelo home after he fought a teammate, it was reported that they'd be looking to trade him to get out of his contract. His contract has one year left at a $4.8 million cap hit.

The problem is that there are no buyers.

BLACKHAWKS ADD GAUDETTE

Monday, April 12: The Blackhawks got Adam Gaudette from the Canucks in exchange for Matthew Highmore in a one-for-one deal.

BRUINS GET HALL

Sunday, April 11: NHL GMs do realize that the trade deadline is at 3 p.m., right? In yet another late-night deal, the Bruins acquired Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar from the Sabres in exchange for Anders Bjork and a second-round pick. The Sabres retained half of Hall's $8 million cap hit on his contract that expires this summer.

PENGUINS IN ON
JEFF CARTER?

Sunday, April 11: From Bob McKenzie:

McKenzie added that the trade call has yet to actually be completed, but that the Kings are expected to be retaining salary and be receiving "a couple" of conditional draft picks from the Penguins if the trade is completed.

More to come on this.

SENATORS MAKE
TWO DEALS

Sunday, April 11: The Senators sold off two assets to East Division teams:

FLAMES TRADE RITTICH

Sunday, April 11: The Flames traded goaltender David Rittich to the Maple Leafs in exchange for a third-round pick:

LEAFS LAND
FOLIGNO

Sunday, April 11: The Maple Leafs landed Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno in another complicated three-team trade.

The Blue Jackets sent Foligno to the Sharks, with 50 percent salary retained in exchange for Toronto's first-round pick in 2021 and a fourth-round pick in 2022.

The Sharks then sent Foligno (with 50 percent of the remaining salary retained) and forward Stefan Noesen to Toronto in exchange for Toronto's fourth-round pick in 2021.

DEVILS GET
SIEGENTHALER

Sunday, April 11: The Devils acquired defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler from the Capitals in exchange for a third-round pick.

Siegenthaler, 23, has only played in seven games with the Capitals this season. By moving one of their extra defensemen, the Capitals freed up $800,000 in salary cap space.

THREE-TEAM TRADE

Saturday, April 10: The Lightning, Blue Jackets, and Red Wings combined for a retained-salary deal on Saturday

The Blue Jackets sent David Savard to the Red Wings in exchange for AHL defenseman Brian Lashoff, while retaining 50 percent of Savard's $4.250 million cap hit, $2.125 million

The Red Wings then sent Savard to the Lightning for a fourth-round pick and retained 50 percent of Savard's remaining cap hit, taking on $1.062 million.

The Blue Jackets then sent Lashoff to the Lightning for Tampa's first-round pick in 2021 and third-round pick in 2022. The Lightning then assigned Lashoff to the Red Wings' AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids, where Lashoff was already playing, so Lashoff doesn't actually go anywhere.

The main takeaway here is that the Lightning get Savard, one of the top defensemen on the trade market, at just 25 percent of his salary for the rest of the season. The Blue Jackets get a good return on draft picks, and the Red Wings get a mid-round pick for helping out with the retained salary.

COLORADO GETS
A GOALIE

Saturday, April 10: The Avalanche sent veteran defenseman Greg Pateryn, who had split this year between the NHL and AHL, to the Sharks along with a 2021 fifth-round pick in exchange for goaltender Devan Dubnyk

Dubnyk appeared in 17 games for the Sharks this season, posting a 3.18 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage.

The Avalanche lead the West Division by a four-point margin. The Sharks are in sixth place, three points behind the Coyotes for the division's last playoff spot.

SABRES MAKE
ANOTHER MOVE

Saturday, April 10: The Sabres sent defenseman Brandon Montour to the Panthers for a 2021 third-round pick. Montour was second among Sabres defensemen in scoring with five goals and nine assists in 38 games.

Montour, 26, is on a one-year deal with a cap hit of $3.85 million. He'll be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The Sabres now have nine picks for the 2021 draft.

The Panthers and Lightning are tied in the standings with 56 points, a point shy of the Hurricanes for the top spot in the Central Division.

The Penguins still have four more games against the Sabres this season, who will likely sell off more players before Monday's deadline.

LEAFS ADD NASH
IN SMART CAP MOVE

Friday, April 9: The Maple Leafs acquired forward Riley Nash from the Blue Jackets in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick. The draft pick becomes a sixth-round pick if Nash plays in at least 25 percent of the Leafs' playoff games.

Nash, 31, is in the last year of his contract. He has two goals and five assists in 37 games this season.

Nash is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering a lower-body injury on April 4 and receiving a 4-6 week recovery timeline. That means that by acquiring Nash, Toronto actually acquired cap space. The Leafs can now put Nash on long-term injured reserve and get relief on Nash's $2.75 million cap hit, extending their own upper limit and giving them more flexibility to make a run at a player who is actually able to play.

LAMORIELLO RULES

Thursday, April 8: Islanders president of hockey operations Lou Lamoriello is very old school, and has some old school rules. One of the more notable rules for any of Lamoriello's teams throughout his career is that players aren't allowed to grow facial hair during the regular season. So when Kyle Palmieri got traded to the Islanders from the Devils yesterday, he had to shave, and the reactions online were pretty funny. This one came from Palmieri's wife:

This one came from Devils defenseman Connor Carrick:

PANTHERS, BLACKHAWKS MAKE
MULTI-PLAYER DEAL

Thursday, April 8: The Panthers and Blackhawks made a deal on Thursday:

Brett Connolly has two goals and two assists in 21 games this season. He scored 19 goals and 14 assists in 69 games with the Panthers last season. Riley Stillman has split the season between the Panthers and their temporary AHL affiliate in Syracuse.

Lucas Wallmark has three assists in 16 games with the Blackhawks, and Lucas Carlsson has split the season between the Blackhawks and their AHL affiliate in Rockford.

The Panthers rank first in the Central Division, and the Blackhawks rank fifth, trailing the Predators for the last playoff spot by just two points.

ISLANDERS GET PALMIERI,
ZAJAC FROM DEVILS

Wednesday, April 7: One of the top teams in the East Division just got a lot better.

The Islanders on Wednesday acquired forwards Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac from the Devils in exchange for their own 2021 first-round draft pick, a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2022, and forwards A.J. Greer and Mason Jobst.

The Islanders are tied with the Capitals for first place in the East Division with 54 points, four points ahead of the third-place Penguins.

Zajac ranked fourth on the Devils in scoring with seven goals and 11 assists in 33 games. Palmieri ranked fifth with eight goals and nine assists in 34 games. Both Zajac and Palmieri are set to be unrestricted free agents this summer.
