The Steelers added depth to their defensive line with the signing of defensive end T.J. Carter on Friday.
Carter, 6 foot 4 and 289 pounds, went undrafted in the 2020 draft class. He signed with the Cardinals after the draft but was released before training camp, and then spent time with the Saints last preseason.
As a senior at Kentucky, Carter set career highs with 26 tackles, six tackles for a loss, four quarterback hurries, and two sacks. He started in 28 of the 50 games of his college career and recorded a combined 71 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 10 quarterback hurries, and six sacks.
Carter's class at Kentucky won 32 games over the last four seasons, the most wins for the program in a four-year span since 1949-52. The class had four consecutive bowl appearances and back-to-back bowl wins.
The Steelers now have 72 players under contract
