Teddy Blueger celebrates his second-period goal against the Devils on Tuesday.

The Penguins had 15 different players record a point in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Devils at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday.

Mike Matheson opened the scoring for the Penguins at the 3:49 mark of the first period with a shot with the point that went through traffic, with Cody Ceci and Jared McCann picking up the helpers.

Bryan Rust extended the Penguins' lead just over four minutes later off of a setup from Sidney Crosby from the neutral zone, with Jake Guentzel earning the secondary assist.

Brian Dumoulin attempted a backhanded dump-in from center ice that skipped in past Devils goaltender Scott Wedgewood. Tristan Jarry's assist was his fourth of the season, a mark that leads all goaltenders in the NHL this season.

Jeff Carter scored his first goal as a Penguin with 2:04 left in the period with a slapshot from the slot. McCann's assist was his second of the game, and Kris Letang's was his first.

The Devils changed goaltenders at first intermission, with Aaron Dell coming in in relief of Wedgewood.

The third line didn't take long to get back to work in the second period, with Teddy Blueger scoring on a rush off of a beautiful backhand feed from Evan Rodrigues, with Zach Aston-Reese earning the other assist.

Rodrigues netted one of his own shortly after on the power play from Jason Zucker and John Marino to put the Penguins up 6-0.

The Devils started pressing hard in the third period and made thing interesting, getting a power play goal from Nico Hischier, a shorthanded goal from Yegor Sharangovich, and a redirect from Nathan Bastian to cut the Penguins' six-goal lead in half.

Crosby picked up the extra point later in the third period with a snipe from just above the goal line, Crosby, Rust, and Guentzel all earned their second points of the game with the goal.

The Devils quickly responded just over a minute after Crosby's goal with a tally from Jack Hughes to regain the three-goal lead, and then Nolan Foote cut the Penguins' lead to two goals with a shot from the right circle. Andreas Jonsson made it a one-goal game in the final minute after the Devils pulled Dell in favor of the extra attacker, but the Devils' rally would end there.

"Something clearly went wrong," Rust said of the Penguins' third period.

Jarry made 24 saves on 30 shots for the win.

The Devils' loss officially eliminated them from playoff contention.
