Ravens trade Brown to Chiefs, could sign Villanueva taken on the South Side (NFL)

The Ravens traded disgruntled offensive tackle Orlando Brown to the Chiefs and are likely going to sign former Steelers offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva as a replacement according to reports.

In return for Brown, who filled in for injured Ronnie Stanley at left tackle in 2020 and wants to stay there, the Ravens received Kansas City's first-round (31), third-round (94) and fourth-round picks (136) in this year's draft, and a fifth-round pick in 2022, for Brown and Baltimore's second-round pick (58) this year.

That leaves the Ravens with a hole at right tackle, which they could now fill with Villanueva.

Villanueva, an unrestricted free agent, visited the Ravens last week. He has been the Steelers' starting left tackle since 2015, but saw his play slip last season.

The 32-year-old has never started a game at right tackle, though he did play on both sides for the Steelers early in his career.

There also is some concern in Baltimore that Stanley, who suffered a broken leg last season that required multiple surgeries, won't be ready for the start of the season.

That could lead Baltimore to select an offensive tackle with one of the picks it received for Brown.

If Villanueva signs after April 22, it would not count against the compensatory formula for Baltimore, meaning the Steelers also would not recoup a compensatory pick for losing Villanueva.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, had a need at tackle after releasing both of their starting tackles from 2020, Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz.
