The Penguins' lone Western Hockey League prospect turned some heads with his goal on Sunday.
Lukas Svejkovsky, the Penguins' fourth-round pick in 2020, scored his 10th goal of the season on the power play in his Medicine Hat Tigers' 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings. He dangled past a Oil Kings player then with a quick release put the puck in the back of the net before Edmonton's goaltender realized what happened:
Svejkovsky now has 10 goals and nine assists in 17 games this season. He averages 3.2 shots on goal per game.
"He has hockey sense, his skill level, and also a good skater," Penguins director of amateur scouting Patrik Allvin said of Svejkovsky after the draft.
Svejkovsky, 19, is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound forward who can play both center and right wing. He's the son of former Capitals and Lightning forward Jaroslav Svejkovsky.
