Dueling Mock Drafts: Lolley, Carter post their final versions taken on the South Side (Steelers)

GETTY

Alabama running back Najee Harris.

It's time. The pro days are complete. The team boards are set.

The draft is upon us. And with that, it's time for Chris Carter and I to put up or shut up. It's time for our final mock drafts.

We've both done multiple mock drafts leading up to this to give you an idea of what might happen in this draft, giving you multiple scenarios. Now it's time for us to tell you what we think will happen. But take it easy on us. The Steelers are picking 24th, not fourth, where it would be much easier to figure out what they might do.

So, without any further ado, here it is:

First Round

1. Jacksonville Jaguars

Lolley's Pick: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson -- A no-brainer at the top. He's been the pick all along.

Carter's Pick: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson -- This has been the slotted pick since the Jaguars clinched the first overall pick in December.

2. New York Jets

Lolley's Pick: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU -- I prefer Justin Fields as the No. 2 quarterback in this class, but I can see the allure of Wilson.

Carter's Pick: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU -- All the reports indicate the Jets are locked in on Wilson. I still see Fields as a better option.

3. San Francisco 49ers

Lolley's Pick: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama -- Again, this isn't the pick I would make. I would take Fields here in a heartbeat. But it seems the 49ers love Mac Jones.

Carter's Pick: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State -- I know there are plenty of reports that the 49ers are looking at Jones or Trey Lance with this pick, but I still just don't see it.

4. Atlanta Falcons

Lolley's Pick: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State -- Fields is from the Atlanta area. And owner Arthur Blank is on board with taking a QB here because he doesn't plan on having this chance again anytime soon.

Carter's Pick: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida -- The prospect of giving Matt Ryan a potential generational tight end like Pitts while Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley are still be the on roster is too much to pass up.

5. Cincinnati Bengals

Lolley's Pick: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon -- Pitts is tough to pass on here, but the Bengals need to protect Joe Burrow.

Carter's Pick: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon -- I've seen the reports that the Bengals might like to pair Burrow with his college teammate and best receiver of this class in Ja'Marr Chase. But logic has to win out here after seeing Burrow go down with a tough ACL injury.

6. Miami Dolphins

Lolley's Pick: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama -- A surprise pick. Waddle's speed is outstanding, and this reunites him with his college quarterback.

Carter's Pick: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama -- I see Chase as the better receiver, but pairing Waddle back with Tua Tagovailoa could be too good to pass up on the quarterback they picked just last year to lead their franchise to the promised land.

7. Detroit Lions

Lolley's Pick: Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU -- Chase and Pitts are both top talents. Pitts is a slightly better player, but the Lions just selected tight end T.J. Hockenson in the first round a year ago.

Carter's Pick: Ja'Marr Chase, WR LSU -- After trading away Matthew Stafford and getting Jared Goff, adding a top talent for him to throw to makes the most sense. They need to build up their offensive weapons and Chase would be a good start.

8. Carolina Panthers

Lolley's Pick: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida -- The Panthers are only too happy to grab Pitts, a generational player, albeit at a position that doesn't typically provide those kind of players.

Carter's Pick: Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern -- I wouldn't put it past the Panthers to trade back from this spot, but if they didn't, Slater makes a ton of sense.

9. Denver Broncos

Lolley's Pick: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State -- The Broncos can afford to allow Lance to wait while Drew Lock holds down the fort.

Carter's Pick: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State -- It's clear Lock isn't the guy, and the Broncos need to find a quarterback sooner rather than later.

10. Dallas Cowboys

Lolley's Pick: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama -- The Cowboys would have loved Pitts to drop to them. But they really need Surtain.

Carter's Pick: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama -- This pick makes too much sense. The Cowboys are in desperate need for help at cornerback.

11. New York Giants

Lolley's Pick: Rashawn Slater, OL, Northwestern -- The Giants could go cornerback here, but Slater can play tackle or guard. He's too good to pass up.

Carter's Pick: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State -- Sure, the Giants might go with Jaycee Horn or Kwity Paye here, but Joe Judge reportedly is locked in on Parsons and his size and speed would be a huge piece to rebuilding the Giants' defense.

12. Philadelphia Eagles

Lolley's Pick: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina -- The Eagles have been patching their secondary together for a few years.

Carter's Pick: Devonta Smith, WR, Alabama -- The Eagles need to pair a top talent at wide receiver with Jalen Hurts sooner rather than later.

13. Los Angeles Chargers

Lolley's Pick: Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech -- After taking Justin Herbert a year ago, they get him a personal protector.

Carter's Pick: Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech -- This one's a no-brainer. Darrisaw is the last of the top-tier offensive tackles and the Chargers have a blatant need.

14. Minnesota Vikings

Lolley's Pick: Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC -- The Vikings' guard situation isn't great. Vera-Tucker is athletic enough to play tackle, but is better suited at guard.

Carter's Pick: Kwity Paye, Edge, Michigan -- This is one of their top needs if the tackle class is exhausted. Getting the best edge rusher in this class would be a welcomed addition to Mike Zimmer's defense.

15. New England Patriots

Lolley's Pick: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State -- There are some questions about Parsons' character, but not his play. He's what the Patriots need.

Carter's Pick: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama -- I fully expect the Patriots to be in play for trading up, but if they didn't, Jones would be someone Bill Belichick would like to mold.

16. Arizona Cardinals

Lolley's Pick: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama -- In terms of talent, he shouldn't be this low, but Smith weighed in at under 170 pounds at the medical re-checks. That's somewhat concerning.

Carter's Pick: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina -- Horn falling here would be a 'sprint to the podium' moment for the Cardinals. They just lost Patrick Peterson, and now they would have the chance to load up at cornerback.

17. Las Vegas Raiders

Lolley's Pick: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa -- He can cover. He can add something to the pass rush. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah would make sense, as well, but he's a player for which you'd better have a solid plan on how to use.

Carter's Pick: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Notre Dame -- Jon Gruden likes athletes who can move, and Owusu-Koramoah would be an essential piece he can move all over his defense.

18. Miami Dolphins

Lolley's Pick: Jaelan Phillips, Edge, Miami (Fla.) -- The Dolphins need some pass rush help. They helped the offense with their first pick. They go defense with this one.

Carter's Pick: Azeez Ojulari, Edge, Georgia -- The Dolphins are one of the teams that could reasonably take one of the top running backs off the board, but I don't see that happening if the board falls this way.

19. Washington Football Team

Lolley's Pick: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech -- He's either going to be a home run or his back is going to be an issue at some point. But talent-wise, Farley belongs in the upper half of the first round.

Carter's Pick: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State -- Ron Rivera may have his front office looking to trade up to get a quarterback, but if he doesn't, solidifying the offensive line with a physical blocker like Jenkins makes sense.

20. Chicago Bears

Lolley's Pick: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota -- They would love a quarterback. They settle for a receiver to play opposite Allen Robinson.

Carter's Pick: Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern -- After all the top quarterbacks and receivers gone, the Bears could opt to replace Kyle Fuller after losing their top cornerback in the offseason.

21. Indianapolis Colts

Lolley's Pick: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State -- Jenkins might be better as a right tackle, but he can be tried on the left side to start out.

Carter's Pick: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota -- Even though they brought back T.Y. Hilton on a one-year deal, getting Carson Wentz a top talent at the position could still be a priority for this offseason.

22. Tennessee Titans

Lolley's Pick: Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss -- After losing their No. 2 and 3 pass catchers in the offseason, the Titans need some help there.

Carter's Pick: Dillon Radunz, OT, North Dakota State -- The Titans have done a lot of winning with Derrick Henry and a strong offensive line. But after investing in Isaiah Wilson and having to cut him, there's a serious need at tackle.

23. New York Jets

Lolley's Pick: Kwity Paye, Edge, Michigan -- New head coach Robert Saleh's defense in San Francisco was built around the front four. So he gets a front four player here.

Carter's Pick: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech -- This is the second team that could jump on a running back before the Steelers. But the Jets also need a cornerback and Farley would be my top cornerback of this class were it not for his injuries.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: Najee Harris, RB, Alabama -- Harris can run it. He's a talented receiver. He's exactly what the Steelers have been missing.

Carter's Pick: Najee Harris, RB, Alabama -- That's the home run pick for the Steelers when it comes to value at 24. Harris is the top back of this class and running back is the top need on the Steelers' depth chart.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars

Lolley's Pick: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU -- The Jaguars could use a bit of everything, but Moehrig is a back-end field general.

Carter's Pick: Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida -- Now with Lawrence on board, the Jaguars could use a top weapon to get him going.

26. Cleveland Browns

Lolley's Pick: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame -- The Browns have to deal with the speed of Lamar Jackson. Owusu-Koramoah will help with that.

Carter's Pick: Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama -- After releasing Sheldon Richardson this month, the Browns could use to get reinforcements on the defensive line.

27. Baltimore Ravens

Lolley's Pick: Azeez Ojulari, Edge, Georgia -- The Ravens lost their top edge guys in free agency. They need a boost there.

Carter's Pick: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU -- Baltimore's defense needs a safety who can cover deep and move around the middle of the field.

28. New Orleans Saints

Lolley's Pick: Joe Tryon, Edge, Washington -- The Saints need to get a good, young edge rusher.

Carter's Pick: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa -- I partially think the Ravens could pick Collins, but if they don't the Saints should snap at the opportunity to add him.

29. Green Bay Packers

Lolley's Pick: Greg Newsome III, CB, Northwestern -- This is a no-brainer if Newsome is still available.

Carter's Pick: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas -- The Packers could easily use a tackle to help protect Aaron Rodgers and help open up the running game in Aaron Jones.

30. Buffalo Bills

Lolley's Pick: Jason Oweh, Edge, Penn State -- The Bills don't have a true dominant pass rusher. Oweh needs to grow into that. But he has the athleticism to do so.

Carter's Pick: Gregory Rousseau, Edge, Miami -- Rousseau could be an instant boost to a pass rush that needs to improve to help the Bills against the AFC's top quarterbacks if they hope to get further in the playoffs in the coming years.

31. Baltimore Ravens

Lolley's Pick: Terrace Marshall, WR, LSU -- The Ravens need a big speed receiver. They get one here.

Carter's Pick: Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU -- Jackson needs to get a true playmaker sometime, and the Ravens could use a bigger combat catch of a receiver to pair with Marquise Brown.

32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Lolley's Pick: Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama -- Ndamukong Suh isn't going to play forever.

Carter's Pick: Alijah Vera-Tucker, IOL, USC -- I could easily see Vera-Tucker getting picked earlier as he's a talented lineman for sure. But if he doesn't, the Buccaneers would be all over this pick.

Round 2

55. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: Quinn Meinerz, C, Wisconsin-Whitewater -- Meinerz was dominant at the Senior Bowl practices. Steelers fans will love him.

Carter's Pick: Quinn Meinerz, C, Wisconsin-Whitewater -- The Steelers need a center and Landon Dickerson could be gone by the time they pick again. Meinerz is the next most physically dominant at the position.

Round 3

87. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: James Hudson, OT, Cincinnati -- An athletic, young tackle who projects well to the left side. He's just scratching the surface of what he can be.

Carter's Pick: Walker Little, OT, Stanford -- I explored the Steelers tripling down on offense with my last mock draft, and I still see that as a possibility. In this scenario, Spencer Brown was gone and Little was the next best option.

Round 4

128. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: Shaun Wade, DB, Ohio State -- He can play the slot as a rookie and perhaps be the future strong safety, as well. A dual-purpose pick.

Carter's Pick: Shaun Wade, CB/S, Ohio State -- I've been beating the drum for Wade in the fourth round for a while now, so why change pace?

140. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: Monty Rice, LB, Georgia -- He needs time to hone his recognition skills, which is why he slips to the fourth round. But Rice has the size and speed to be an ace next to Devin Bush ... eventually.

Carter's Pick: Patrick Jones, Edge, Pitt -- Getting a backup edge rusher behind T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith is an objective to achieve in this NFL Draft.

Round 6

216. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: Malcolm Koonce, Edge, Buffalo -- The Steelers love their MAC defensive ends for conversion to outside linebackers. Koonce needs to learn to set the edge better, but he can rush the passer.

Carter's Pick: Justin Hilliard, LB, Ohio State -- Hilliard is the third-best linebacker Ohio State has in this class, but he's also someone who could help both on the defensive depth chart and contribute on special teams.

Round 7

245. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: Avery Williams, CB, Boise State -- He scored nine special teams touchdowns in college. He blocked five kicks. He can play the slot, as well. There's a lot to like here in a 5-9, 197-pound package.

Carter's Pick: Deommodore Lenoir, CB, Oregon -- A three-year starter who could double as reinforcements at slot cornerback, Lenoir could help in the slot, fight for special teams snaps, and give Wade more opportunities to help at safety.

253. Pittsburgh Steelers

Lolley's Pick: Michael Strachan, WR, Charleston -- A 6-5, 228-pound target from a Division II school. Strachan ran a 4.5 40 a his pro day. He's a developmental outside receiver who could probably use a season on the practice squad.

Carter's Pick: Tedarrell Slaton, DT, Florida -- Getting a late defensive tackle seems to be a regular ordeal for the Steelers lately, and Slaton fits that mold.
