With the NHL playoffs just getting underway this weekend, the Penguins won't have any of their NHL-roster players playing in the tournament.
The Penguins will have a prospect, though.
Valtteri Puustinen, the Penguins' 2019 seventh-round pick who recently signed his entry-level contract with the team, was one of 15 forwards to make Finland's roster, the Finnish national team announced on Saturday.
The only players from NHL teams on Finland's roster are former Penguin Olli Maatta, whose Kings didn't make the playoffs, and Sabres forward Arttu Ruotsalainen.
Puustinen, who turns 22 next month, is a right-handed shot and can play both wings. He finished No. 2 in scoring for his club HPK this season, scoring 21 goals and 20 assists in 51 games.
This will be Puustinen's first time playing in the World Championship. He's represented the Finnish senior national team in smaller international tournaments before, and played for Finland in th 2018 World Junior Championship tournament.
The World Championship will be held in Latvia from May 21 to June 6
