Carter's Talking Point: LeBeau ideal as Troy's presenter taken on the South Side (Steelers)

Troy Polamalu and Dick LeBeau.

The Steelers are going to have a party at the Pro Football Hall of Fame this Summer when Bill Cowher, Donnie Shell, Alan Faneca and Troy Polamalu join Bill Nunn as members of the organization who've been inducted.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame already announced Hines Ward would present Faneca at his induction this August, but Polamalu's presenter had been unclear until Polamalu dropped a heavy hint at who his presenter will be Tuesday on Twitter:

Dick LeBeau makes perfect sense. A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame with 62 interceptions that still ranks tenth in NFL history, he coached Polamalu as the Steelers' defensive coordinator.

During that time the Steelers ranked as the NFL's top scoring defense four times and top total defense five times. Those units played a huge role in the organization winning its two most recent Super Bowls in 2006 and 2009. Polamalu played a huge role in all of those defenses, earning eight Pro Bowl appearances and named All-Pro four times.

The two have an incredible respect for each other, with LeBeau displaying his admiration for Polamalu in an interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio's 'Late Hits' back in 2020:

“Yeah, I guided him, all right," LeBeau said. "I stayed the h*** out of his way … Troy had the ability to go from point A to point B probably as quickly as any man I’ve ever seen … he confused offenses. He had great anticipation. I think he’s the best safety that’s ever played, that’s my opinion. Of course, it is biased. Troy is one in a million – as a player, as a person.”

LeBeau is a legendary coordinator whose zone blitz schemes created one of the best defensive runs in recent NFL history. Having him present Polamalu is the best pick for Polamalu as the coach who deployed him best and inspired Polamalu to play at the elite level he did.

YOUR TAKE: Is there anybody who could better present Polamalu?
