No one who's served in our military has ever been asked for a penny to subscribe to our site.
And we've got no intention of changing that.
For anyone new here, we began offering free one-year subscriptions to all active-duty military in our launch year, 2014. From there, our readers came up with the initiative to follow through with veterans, too, and further offered to cover those costs. Which they did, coming through year after year after year to cover every subscription requested.
Along the way, we've heard so many wonderful stories from military members all over the world, some of them in combat, who've expressed their gratitude to us -- imagine that! -- for being able to connect to their Steelers, Penguins or Pirates as a welcome distraction.
Nothing we've done at this company has brought greater satisfaction.
Well, here we go again: As ever, Josh DeNinno, the general manager at Moon Golf Club and a passionate supporter of those who serve, will lead the charge. His challenge to readers last year was to cover an unprecedented 1,500 military subscriptions, and we reached that figure, fittingly, on Veterans Day weekend.
This year ... let's get 2,000!
To date, we've sold 617, including a bulk buy of 15 over the past weekend!
Thanks to everyone!
Here's how you can contribute: The cost of a single one-year military subscription is always half-off at $20. You can contribute one, or you can contribute as many as you'd like. And the process couldn't be simpler: Email me directly at DK@DKPittsburghSports.com and let me know what you'd like to do, and I, in turn, can thank you personally.
Also, if you've ever been a military subscription recipient, please feel free to share your story in the comments, as some of you have done with me. But bear in mind that we're the ones thanking you.
