If the Penguins win their first-round series with the Islanders, we already know who they'll play in the second round.

The Bruins advanced to the second round on Sunday night with a 3-1 win over the Capitals, eliminating the Capitals in five games.

The Capitals won the first game of the first-round series in overtime, and then the Bruins won four straight to win the series, including two wins in overtime.

David Pastrnak opened the scoring in Game 5 for the Bruins, and Patrice Bergeron scored twice. Conor Sheary scored the lone goal for the Capitals. Tuukka Rask earned the win with 40 saves on 41 shots, and Ilya Samsonov took the loss with 16 saves on 19 shots.

The Capitals enter the season with a number of pending free agents, including Alex Ovechkin.

The Bruins await the winner of the Penguins-Islanders series, which is currently tied 2-2.
