The flashes of brilliance that Contreras showed in his first three outings of the season were there Tuesday night, but the results didn't match. Contreras gave up five runs in four innings while walking three and striking out six. It was the first time Contreras has struggled this season as he was all over the zone against Erie during his outing.

"The first three outings he went deep into the game 6 innings, 6 innings and 6.2 innings, today he had a couple of long innings," Altoona manager Miguel Perez said.

While the struggles haven't quite been the norm for Contreras this season, there will be more and it's okay for those struggles to happen. In fact, it should help him along the way as he continues up the ladder in the organization.

After the loss, Contreras is now 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA, six walks, 11 hits allowed and 34 strikeouts on the season. Opponents are still only hitting a measly .149 against him this season.

Jared Jones dominated for Bradenton earning his first win of the season by going three innings and notching six strikeouts in a 12-2 victory over Palm Beach. Jones routinely was in the high-90s with his velocity and touched 99 mph on the gun for the Marauders.
