Greensboro was expected to be the most interesting affiliate coming into this season, but injuries to the Pirates' star middle-infield prospects dampend some of the excitement.
At least Peguero returned from a bruised knee that has kept him out for most of the season. He appears to have some rust to shake off, though. On Friday, he went 0-for-4 with a pair of fielding errors.
Peguero went deep twice, stole four bases and was batting .364 over his first six games before hitting the injured list, so one game is hardly a cause for concern. But with Nick Gonzales out for roughly the next month with a fractured pinky finger, he'll be working with new double-play partners up the middle.
ELSEWHERE
• Infielder/outfielder Jase Bowen had himself a ball game for the Bradenton Marauders Friday, opening the scoring with a solo shot in the first and then walking off the Palm Beach Cardinals with another dinger in the ninth. An overslot 11th-round pick (something the Pirates loved to do under Neal Huntington) in 2019, FanGraphs' Eric Longenhagen describes Bowen as "an athletic dev [development] project" with above average raw power. He isn't ranked on any prospect lists, but he's up to four home runs over 19 games this year.
• The Indianapolis Indians were shutout against the Omaha Storm Chasers Friday. And in Ke'Bryan Hayes news:

He's looked really good during this rehab trip.
• Like the Pirates, the Curve got washed out Friday. They'll play two seven-inning games against the Erie SeaWolves Saturday.
