Sidney Crosby is a finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award, which goes to the NHL's "most outstanding player," as determined by a vote among members of the NHL Players Association.
The other finalists are centers Connor McDavid of Edmonton and Toronto's Auston Matthews.
Crosby, 33, has won that award, known for much of its 50-year history as the Lester Pearson Award, three times, and McDavid has won it twice.
McDavid is the favorite to receive the Lindsay, but if it would go to Crosby, he would join Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky as the only players to get it four or more times.
The winner will be announced during the Stanley Cup final, although the precise date has not been revealed.
