It's been a week since the Penguins' season came to a stunning end on Long Island, so some of the sting of their defeat probably has eased for a large segment of the fan base.
Regardless, even though the Penguins no longer are a part of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the NHL's postseason moves on, with eight teams still competing for a championship.
As in every other playoff year, there has been no shortage of upsets and surprises; no fewer than five lower-seeded teams won the eight series contested during the opening round.
And there certainly is no shortage of storylines developing across the continent. Tampa Bay is trying to join the Penguins as the only teams to win a Cup in consecutive years since Detroit did it in 1997 and 1998. Colorado and Vegas are engaged in a heavyweight battle that could end up rivaling almost any ever held at a venue in the Golden Knights' hometown. Montreal and Winnipeg are vying to see which Round 1 underdog will end up being Canada's lone representative in the semifinals.
The question is, do you care about any of that?
Is there a a team you would like to see win? Or, for that matter, lose?
Is there a former Penguins player -- Marc-Andre Fleury comes immediately to mind -- that you would like to see earn a ring? Is there a Penguins nemesis -- it's hard to not think of Brad Marchand -- against whom you are actively rooting?
Or, did it all become nothing more than background noise after Game 6 in the Islanders series, with hockey reduced to an afterthought until at least the start of training camp in September?
YOUR TURN: Even though the Penguins' season is over, do you still have a rooting interest in these playoffs? If so, what is it?
