Former Pitt All-American defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman was shot four times Monday in Washington, D.C.

Per ESPN,Twyman was reportedly visiting his aunt when he was shot while in his car. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declared it a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and stated that Twyman will make a full recovery:

Rosenhaus further explained that Twyman wouldn't need surgery and that X-rays were negative, further supporting that the 21-year old NFL rookie would make a full recovery. It is still unclear as to what caused the shooting.

Twyman had just been selected by the Vikings with the 199th pick in the sixth round in the NFL Draft in April after sitting out the 2020 NCAA season due to the pandemic. Before then, he was a phenomenal player for the Panthers in 2019 when he led the team with 12 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks, becoming the first interior defensive lineman to lead Pitt in either category since three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald.

That year, Twyman was named a Second Team All-American by at least six selectors in a highly decorated year that included being the Outland Trophy National Defensive Player of the Month for September and making First-Team All-ACC,

Twyman was one of six Pitt football players selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, including two fellow All-American defensive linemen in Rashad Weaver, who went to the Titans, and Patrick Jones was selected by the Vikings in the third round.
