We’ve already produced a lot of draft coverage at DK Pittsburgh Sports. There’s even more to come, especially on the Pirates’ top four picks: Catcher Henry Davis, left-hander Anthony Solometo, outfielder Lonnie White Jr. and right-hander (and possibly infielder too) Bubba Chandler.

It does drop off a bit after those first four picks, with most of the following selections being college players who will sign at or below slot value to make sure there’s enough money to go around.

The Pirates have been widely praised for this class, both on the MLB.com broadcast and in Baseball America’s listing of four day two drafts they were really excited about.

But what fun is that praise without assigning a letter to it?

Last year I did the traditional draft grades, and in retrospect, I wish I hadn’t. It’s way too early to judge drafts, especially when the class is so high school heavy. Most of these players won’t reach the majors until 2025, if they ever reach the majors at all.

We can talk about projectable traits and potential upticks in velocity or power, but there’s nothing guaranteed. It’s not like in the NFL where those players will be immediately thrown into the fire.

So if I won’t do it, I’m going to outsource it to the comment section!

The floor is yours, everyone. I’ll poke my head in the comment section, but this is a Talking Point where I want the community to lead the discussion with minimal prompting from me.

With that said, here are a lot of prompts!

Is this class good enough? Would have rather had Jack Leiter or one of the high school shortstops instead? Did the under-slot strategy work in your eyes? Do you think they will sign all four of those first-round talents?

YOUR TURN: What grade would you give the Pirates’ draft?
