We're still about three weeks away from the planned start of training camp -- Sept. 22 is a date I've heard several times, although nothing has been announced yet -- and things have been quiet around the Penguins for quite a while.
That was the case around most of the league, as well. At least it was until Saturday, when Carolina announced that it had signed Montreal forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi, a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet.
