RICHMOND, VA. -- Yeah, I know … it was a preseason game.
But just because it didn’t count doesn’t mean it didn’t happen … and it’s fun to think about how no one in that shiny new structure of concrete and steel 51 years ago had any idea what great things lie in store for the concept of NFL football on a weeknight in prime time, for the rookie QB, or for the Steelers themselves. Within a decade, they would all be legendary, but no one dared dream it on that night in August of 1970.
