RICHMOND, Va. -- Looking for examples of early season matches between the Steelers and the Bills, I came across this quiet gem from 2007, Mike Tomlin’s first of many victories at Heinz Field.
As my interests always lean towards the sartorial, I couldn’t pass a chance to depict the Steelers’ beautiful late-00s throwbacks, complete with the gold helmet. The team’s consistent identity over the decades is one of its strongest suits, and one I wouldn’t give up for anything… but it’s always a treat to have a different uniform to cheer for on the rare occasions when it happens.
And on the topic of uniforms, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, how about these piping and paneled monstrosities that Buffalo was sporting during the same time period? They’re "red vest” level bad, yet they wore them, inexplicably, for a decade. That their best finish over that span was 9-7 in 2004 seems to prove the old adage of “look good, play good”.
Here we go!
